This project investigated how a toolkit for design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) could be integrated into the workflow of engineers at AAE.

The challenge was approached through research for design process. I mapped the stakeholders using a salience model and Actor Network Theory. Then ran human-centred workshops, supported by expert input, to surface where engineers struggle. Those were translated into requirements and principles through thematic analysis and made coherent in a customer journey.  

These insights shaped AM Compass, taking account AAE’s vision, built in Python and using nTop automate in the background, that gives feature specific feedback and extends model visibility through AR. Validated through a discussed case study to test the toolkit.
